Rabbi Dates are also known as Algerian Date and they are popular for their unique flavour, texture and nutritional benefits. There is a high demand for this kind of Date in domestic and international market. A large part of this Date is exported to Pakistan, because of that it is also known as Pakistani Dates but the harvest of Rabbi Dates is uniquly in Iran. Some people prefer Rabbi Dates because of their natural and low sweetness.
Rabbi Dates are mainly cultivated in southeastern province of Iran in Sistan and baluchestan, Zabol, Iranshahr, Saravan and chabahar. but the best grade and quality of these Dates are cultivated in Zabol and Iranshahr.
Rabbi dates have elongated shape and their skin has a reddish hue; They are also dark brown to black. these dates are semi-dry and can be stored for long period of time because of their low moisture content. Their moisture content is less than 14%.
Like other types of Dates, Rabbi Dates are very nutritious and full of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants and they are useful for bone health because of minerals such as magnesium, selenium, calcium and manganese. This fruit is also rich in vitamin A and potassium which makes it a natural laxative and improves digestive system.
